See you at the Servus Heritage Festival
It is the time of year when Edmontonians head down to Hawrelak park to enjoy wonderful cultural entertainment and delicious food. In Edmonton the August long weekend means it is time for the Servus Heritage Festival!
This year the festival will have representatives from 67 countries and 85 cultures all in one place. For many cultural groups the festival is their biggest fundraiser allowing them to have programming throughout the year adding to the tapestry of our wonderful city.
For us at Edmonton’s Food Bank, the Servus Heritage Festival is our single biggest food and fundraiser of the year. Last year we collected $66,308.34 in monetary donations, 81,705 kilograms of food and $59,568.75 in unused food tickets
We are honoured to once again be part of the festival and will have volunteers collecting donations at all the park entrances.
Like everyone in Edmonton we are hoping for a beautiful weekend full of sunshine, however we also know Alberta weather can be unpredictable, so we’d like to remind everyone that if you don’t come down to the park you can still donate and support this important food drive. If you’d like to donate non-perishable food items you can do so at Edmonton fire halls and grocery stores. You can also make monetary donations securely online through Canada Helps here.
